Companion Animal Veterinarians

Veterinarians focusing on companion animals (dogs, cats, small mammals, etc.) diagnose health problems, vaccinate against disease, medicate animals, treat and dress injuries, perform surgery, and advise owners about various subjects like nutrition, behavior and breeding. More than 70 percent of veterinarians who work in private practice focus on treating companion animals.
